Behind the Thought Process
Every project always starts with a sketch; it helps designers think about what their product is going to look like. At this stage, designers are allowed to experiment and work out ideas before starting on the final design. Of course designers are still allowed to experiment with their final designs but they still need a set idea for them, no direction it can lead to a messy and unfinished design.
Ideas lead to Sketches
Sometimes, creatives have a wide assortment of ideas that they can't put into words, but they think about every aspect of their idea. This is when sketching comes into play. Being able to put your ideas on paper makes it more tangible to understand what your idea will look like, how it would work, and what message you want to convey to your audience.

Page Spread in InDesign
I began designing my page spread by adding the header and text box that will be filled with placeholder text for when I put in the article’s story. I make sure that my text boxes are set to three columns per page, keeping the font at Myriad Pro as body text, Engravers MT Regular for the header, and Book Antiqua Bold and Book Antiqua Regular as subtext. Then I went to “Walter Wick: Hidden Wonders!”
Mailer Card
My design project is a MOCA mailer card to inform patrons about Andreas Gursky; a German photographer who captures human, corporate, creation. I wanted to capture the essence of the artist while also keeping MOCA’s branding intact. Making sure the design looked corporate since Gursky is known for capitalistic photographs and contemporary to match MOCA.
"Art is the physical reperiastion of the human experience. "
